Facebook’s Matchmaking App is Spreading

Facebook Dating, the social media platform’s matchmaking feature, which was first announced as part of the F8 Developers Conference in 2018, has become available in 32 more countries.

Facebook Dating, the matchmaking service developed by the social media giant as a rival to Tinder, went into use in the US last year. According to the British Daily Mail, Facebook Dating eventually opened up to Europe as well. The feature was made available in 32 other countries in Europe. First of all, everything is kept separate from the main profiles on the Dating service. In other words, you don’t have to use your main profile when using the matchmaking app. People who use Facebook Dating create new Profiles with only their names and can see other users doing the same process. The app, which can also be integrated with Instagram, another social media platform located on Facebook, does not match you with people on your friends list. But the ‘Secret Crush’ feature on the platform allows users to choose 8 different Facebook or Instagram friends. These people certainly don’t see that you chose them. If they choose you, Facebook sends a message to these two users informing them of the situation.

Facebook first announced the app at the F8 Developers Conference in San Jose, California in 2018. A year later, the feature, which went into use in the United States, was scheduled to open in Europe on Valentine’s day, but this plan was delayed due to EU regulations.
